Artist Bio
Artist Courtney teNyenhuis, is an artist based in the beautiful town of Big Pine, CA. She has been exploring the world of art since 2016 and has completely fallen in love with it. Her main focus is on painting, block printing, and mosaics, and she finds her greatest inspiration in animals and all things nature related. From the delicate feathers of a bird to the rugged mountains that surround her. Through her art, she aims to capture the beauty and essence of the natural world, and share it with others.
Artist Statement
In my work, I try to capture the beauty, mystery, and calmness of nature and animals. As a young child I was always fascinated and intrigued by animals and their actions and behaviors. My family would go camping or go visit the boat docks and all I would want to pay attention to was the movement of the fish or the flight patterns of the birds above. I paint and create art from that point of view and want to capture a very joyous and peaceful feeling that the animals have given me.
Creating art has given me a way to express myself through paint brush strokes, carving, and more. It has given me a voice and way of expressing what goes through my mind. Meaning through animals, colors and technique. Sharing that with the viewer and finding myself through my art brings me great joy. Art is such a beautiful action and outcome that benefits both the artist and the viewer bringing emotions to viewing.
